2026 Minnesota State High School Team Table Tennis Championships

The future of American table tennis was on full display at the 2026 Minnesota State High School Team Table Tennis Championships, as students from across Minnesota gathered for one of the most unique and successful youth table tennis events in the United States.

The tournament was directed once again by U.S. Table Tennis Hall of Famer Mitchell Seidenfeld, who has helped build the Minnesota high school table tennis system into one of the premier scholastic programs in the United States over the course of more than three decades of leadership and development.  Mitchell shared, "Having support from Paddle Palace and US Table Tennis Hall of Fame has propelled this event to a completely different level."

Hosted once again in Minnesota’s outstanding high school team format, the event featured strong school spirit, impressive depth, and an exciting blend of experienced USATT tournament players alongside newer student-athletes representing their schools with pride.

In the Open Division, Wayzata High School captured the 2026 State Championship with an impressive team performance throughout the event. Mounds View High School earned second place after a strong tournament run, while Eastview High School secured third place honors. Holy Family Catholic High School won the Open Division Consolation title.

The Girls Division also showcased tremendous talent and enthusiasm. Lakeville South High School earned the Girls Division championship, with Eden Prairie High School finishing second and Southwest High School taking third place.

Among the tournament’s standout individual performers were Maxwell Liu and Mandy Yu, who entered the event as the top-rated players in the competition and helped lead their schools with high-level play throughout the weekend.

One of the event’s most meaningful stories came from Nay Ah Shing High School, whose students traveled nearly two hours to represent the Mille Lacs Band of the Ojibwe at this year’s championships. Their participation highlighted the growing reach and inclusiveness of scholastic table tennis in Minnesota.

Another memorable moment came with the long-awaited debut of Abigail Yu, who as a 7th grader was finally eligible to compete in the high school team competition.

The level of competition throughout the event continued to demonstrate why Minnesota remains one of the national leaders in scholastic table tennis development. In one of the tournament’s most notable team results, Rochester Century High School narrowly lost to Mounds View High School 8-6 in the Open Division semifinals despite Century featuring two players who have achieved USATT ratings above 2300.

The Minnesota State High School Team Championships continue to provide an outstanding model for youth table tennis growth in the United States by combining school identity, team camaraderie, and competitive excellence.
